I have had problems with reading for many years, along with problems linked to Dyslexia.
I found that when I read the words appear to come out of the page and some letters would be darker than others, making me read the words completely wrong. When I read think text, like in a book the words would move and wobble. So by the time I had read a few sentences I would realise I haven’t read anything and been looking at the text moving. I then tended to put or throw the book down in anger and have achieved nothing.
Explaining this to many people is strange as they don’t see what I see and can’t understand.
The glasses I have been given have given me confidence and passion in reading which doesn’t sound like a big deal, but for me to achieve reading a whole book cover to cover is the biggest achievement for me. I still am unconfident in reading aloud.
I have one pair of blue colorimetry glasses and one clear focusing pair. I wear the clear ones more often I as I find they relax my eyes more and wear my blue ones when I am writing for long periods of time on my computer. I carry my glasses everywhere and have been so helpful.
I can’t believe I have suffered so long without them d I really hope schools introduce specific help for children. My life would be very different if I had it picked up earlier.
